The Alaska Angel Conference (AAC) is a group of investors who are investing in Alaska's tomorrow by investing in Alaska businesses today. The Workshop series, generally open to both Investors and Entrepreneurs, serves to both introduce investors AND Alaska businesses to Angel Investing, through webinars focused on what it takes to become an investible business.
The AAC increases the number of angel investors in our statewide startup ecosystem by pairing experienced angel investors with novice investors and leading them through a structured 12-week process of identifying, filtering, selecting, and managing a group angel investment. In the process, we help nurture the companies and mentor the founders who apply for funding and award a $100k+ investment into one of the startups that apply.
The 2020 Angel Conference schedule will break down how the investor group will work through the applications and ultimately arrive at an investment decision, which will be revealed at the final event which is on April 23rd, 2020 and is open to the public.

Fairbanks Startup Weekend @ Venue
Alaska Wilderness: Big ideas in 54 hoursDo you have an idea you'd like to pursue or a problem you'd like to solve but don't know where to start or who to start with?

Techstars Startup Weekend is the place to look for a team, create a prototype of your idea, validate your business idea, and receive feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, all in one weekend.

What do you need to bring?

Lots of energy! You'll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.

Your idea should be something you have not previously worked on. The idea you pitch and the problem you set out to solve can span social, educational, financial, environmental, or other issues. Over the course of the weekend you'll be challenged to create a prototype of your MVP, or minimum viable product, that fits the needs of your target customer. You'll get feedback, iterate, and likely pivot your approach entirely! Important: You cannot have worked previously on your idea.

Techstars Startup Weekend is a full weekend long experience. Your ticket includes:
  • 7 full (and delicious) meals over the course of the weekend
  • One-on-one time with amazing mentors
  • A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs eager, like you, to change the world.
  • All the internet and coffee you can consume.
Click on the “Buy Ticket” button now!

Still have questions, feel free to reach us at “fairbanks@startupweekend.org”.

Don’t wait any longer and join the Techstars Startup Weekend movement!

No talk, all action!

Business & Brews | Uncle Leroy's Coffee
For this session of Business & Brews, learn about the local Anchorage coffee shops, Uncle Leroy's Coffee, from the ground up.  Co-owners Austin Schwartz and Carla McConnell tell their origin story that began on a 1968 bus and has grown into a pair of Anchorage area coffee shops and a small batch roaster. Together, they'll share the ups and downs of sustaining a new business in an oversaturated market and maintaining a new location in the midst of COVID. They will take attendees through a virtual tour of their Midtown shop to learn more about manual espresso, slow brew coffee, and small batch roasting.  Join us to piece together the parts of how Uncle Leroy's Coffee intersects itself with coffee bar and coffeehouse cultures via a Q&A at the end.

Coffee with Investor Cameron Kramlich (Ask Me Anything)
Come have coffee with us and ask Cameron anything during the first day of Alaska Startup Week!!!

Investor and entrepreneur Cameron Kramlich has experience working with a venture capital firm designed to support entrepreneurs in non-typical industries + non-typical locations. For the past 15 years, he's been an investor in Three Bears and regularly visits Alaska. He's interested in startups, entrepreneurs, and Alaska: what a great combination for Alaska Startup Week! This will be an informal, Ask-Me-Anything event to get Alaska Startup Week off to a good start. Ask him about starting a business, acquiring investment, selling or exiting a venture.... etc

A few words from Cameron: "I love meeting other people supporting entrepreneurs. The value add I can bring them is my Silicon Valley + China network, and the possibility of attracting other investors. As an investor I'm usually more comfortable participating in venture capital funds and co-investing in their deals...but always open to opportunities."

Go-To-Market Strategy for Startups - FBX Live Hosted Meetup
